Mark Rabinowitz, Business Development Manager US
Mark Rabinowitz manages business development efforts for CINELAN in the US and abroad, inclusive of filmmaker relationships, film acquisitions, film partnership development, and library expansion.
Rabinowitz is the co-founder of the premier indie film news service indieWIRE.com and has been a journalist, producer, film festival staff and consultant since 1995. He is considered a foremost expert on the independent film industry having attended approximately 120 film festivals around the globe. As a journalist, his credits include Variety, Screen International, AOL UK, E! Online, IFC.com, Utne Reader, The Independent Film & Video Monthly, Time Out New York, and Filmmaker Magazine, and currently he is editor in chief of the blog The Rabbi Report. Other career highlights include Festival Liaison for Without a Box Inc., Industry Liaison for the Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF), and guest programmer for HIFF's successful Films of Conflict & Resolution section. As a filmmaker Mark co-produced the independent feature The Forgotten which, after screening at the 2003 European Film Market, opened the 2003 Three Rivers Film Festival (Pittsburgh) and won best feature at the 2004 Sedona International Film Festival. He also co-wrote and produced 1994's Delinquent's Derby (d. Andy Hudson), a 35mm short film notable for being Jimmy Kimmel's first on screen appearance. Among his non-film work, Rabinowitz was the Community Editor for the Clio and Andy Award-winning campaign FordBoldMoves.com. Additionally, he has worked on a gubernatorial and two presidential campaigns and has staffed two Democratic National Conventions (1988 & 1992).
